Gil Roeder - layered media artist
Gil Roeder is an internationally known artist and photographer. He calls his work Layered Media. Gil's typical pieces are what he calls 'Street Seens '. These are slice of life/moments in time. He works in urban and seaside locations -- much of his work is done on Cape Cod in the Wellfleet & Provincetown area. He also has done work in San Fransisco, Boston, New York and the Lakes region of Northern Italy.
His mixed media work combines digital photography with multimedia processes to produce a piece that is photorealistic yet impressionistic at the same time. Each piece begins its life as a digital photo. Each element of the piece is colored, shadowed, lit or relit, and multi-layered so that the work bridges the gap between photography and painting. The finished piece is produced using a giclee process with archival inks on watercolor paper.
